Abdon V. Karekoona

Executive Secretary

Karekoona was born in rural  Ntungamo, Uganda in the late 1970’s. He thinks he arrived in these United States by accident after  living in Europe for a while and life was  becoming unbearable. Karekoona went to the University of Nebraska and is a field biologist by training, he currently is an adjunct professor of a biology at Harold Washington college, one of the City colleges of Chicago.

He  is also a die-hard community oriented  entrepreneur and is always looking for problems that need solutions specifically in rural communities in Uganda where he is currently engaged in a couple small community business projects. He brings this passion to UCIGC.

Abdon is married to Annet and they live on the Northwest side of Chicago.
